Anita Neal

Anita E. Neal has been a tribal court judge for over 19 years. In addition to serving as a pro tem judge for the Intertribal Court of Southern California, she also serves as chief judge for the following: Port Gamble S’Klallam Community Court, Quileute Tribal Court, Shoalwater Bay Tribal Court, and the Snoqualmie Tribal Court. Ms. Neal also serves as a family court judge for the Squaxin Island Tribe and provides pro tem judicial services for the Northwest Intertribal Court System. She is fully committed to providing professional judicial services that honor and respect each Tribe’s unique laws and court systems.

Ms. Neal has been a practicing attorney since 1987 and owns a law practice located in Olympia, Washington. She is admitted to practice in Washington state courts, federal courts, and several tribal courts. Her solo practice focuses on tribal and federal Indian law with an emphasis on Indian Child Welfare, domestic relations, estates and probate, employment, and other civil matters. A strong advocate of alternative dispute resolution, Ms. Neal also serves as a professional mediator and arbitrator for tribes, tribal organizations, and individuals.
Born and raised in Arizona State, Ms. Neal received a Juris Doctorate from Arizona State University, Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law in 1986 and a Bachelor of Arts in English/secondary education from the University of Arizona in 1981. She has also received extensive training from the National Judicial College and other judicial training providers.
